+ Access Probono Society of British Columbia
Sheldon is a member of Access Probono’s Solicitors Roster Volunteer Program. He enhances access to justice by providing pro bono legal assistance to non-profits and individuals that cannot afford legal representation.
James has been a longtime Access Probono volunteer and supported APBBC’s Everyone Legal Clinic as a volunteer Supervising Lawyer for its first two years.
Nazanin is also an APBBC volunteer.
macushlaw donates both in kind and cash contributions to APBBC annually.
+ Atira Women’s Resource Society
Naz works closely with this organization to provide summary advice in legal clinics, drafting services, demand letters, and dispute resolution services to Atira clients.
What is Atira Women’s Resource Society?
- Atira serves all women including trans, two spirit, intersex women, and those who identify with a femme of centre non-binary gender
- Support for women struggling with substance use, mental well-being, and spiritual wellness
- Provides a range of services to support women affected by violence including housing, outreach, daycare, education, legal advocacy, and so much more!
+ Law Society of British Columbia
James volunteers his time as a bencher of the Law Society of British Columbia, the regulator of legal services in BC. In his role as bencher, James interview new calls, provides support to members on ethical issues, and sits on the Finance and Audit and Practice Standards committees.
+ Heart Rescue
Raquel and James are regular foster parents to dogs currently in temporary care with Heart Rescue located in the Kootenay region of BC.
+ Good Night Out Vancouver
Amanda volunteers with Good Night Out Vancouver, a BC-based non-profit society that’s part of an international initiative seeking to end harassment on nights out for all by providing support and education on harm reduction initiatives from a survivor-centered perspective.
What is Good Night Out Vancouver?
- Provider of tools to educate individuals and partners on how to keep patrons and workers safe including at-event safety outreach, environmental audits, and prevention policy plans
- Founded out of awareness of the links between alcohol consumption and sexual aggression and initiated in an effort to educate, recognize, interrupt, and prevent sexual harassment and assault on nights out
